Spring! I love this time of year when the days stretch out into the evening and I can get to enjoy a couple of hours outside after dinner. Working in the garden or just hanging out on the deck – you can find me working like a banshee to get ready for our upcoming Spring studio tour!
A full month early this year, getting ready for Open Studios shoots into high gear with cleaning the studio, planting the patio garden and organizing and finishing all the works in progress. My messy, out-of-control work space will be (mostly) tidied up and the sparkling glass rods will be laid out next to the torch in readiness for new creations.
I’ll have some new styles I’m very excited to show; one series, inspired by a Chihuly Chandelier in the Renwick Gallery/Smithsonian, is a necklace and earring style very different from my earlier work. I also hope to have a piece or two from a collaboration with local potter and Cape Ann Artisan alum Marty Morgan…we’ve designed a collection that was accepted into a juried show, Hands of the Maker 2, that will take place in New Orleans, opening in July.
