From the studio: Bart Stuyf

Bart Stuyf 2013 was another interesting year on Mussel Point. Bart Stuyf participated in some of his yearly events like the Cape Ann Artisans Tour and the Essex County Heritage Trails and Sails event which brings people from around the world to visit him at the studio. He also enjoyed showing his work at the Flying Horse Outdoor Sculpture show at the Pingree School in South Hamilton, Art in the Barn in Essex and the art show at the Crane Estate in Ipswich.

New challenges included two interesting commissions. A five foot octopus that moved into Boston and a large Canadian Owl that has flown north to Quebec to join an eagle and flying crane who took up residence there in previous years.

One particularly rewarding experience was Bart’s opportunity to work with Artistic Bridges, an artists in residence program sponsored by the Gloucester Education Fund and designed by the Cape Ann Museum. The museum works with the schools and teachers to bring artists to the schools to demonstrate their work and show a real life application of what the students are learning. Bart was the first artist to participate and he had great fun demonstrating and talking with a high school chemistry class.
