From the Studio: Pam Stratton, September ’25

I continue to explore and enjoy playing with Eco printing in the dirty pot, creating silk scarves. I recently have tried some natural dying of the scarves to add more color. These are made with the dye from the cochineal bug.  The mosaic “Birds of a Feather”was created with eco printed paper that I embellished with encaustic.

The 3 day make a fish class was a success! Here are some examples of students’ work:

I will do another class in October or November and maybe add a flower you can make if you are not into fish. You can hang them outside even in a New England winter! Check the schedule at: PamStrattonMosaics.com

Creating vessels is a new interest, this vessel is made from cheese cloth and encaustic wax. This sculpture is call “Wood spirit”. The vessel is mounted on driftwood and I incorporated my hand pulled glass threads into the body of the wood.

“Wood Spirit” was accepted into New England Mosaic Societies Ten Years on the Cutting Edge exhibition at the Art Complex Museum in Duxbury, MA. You can read about the exhibition in the Sept/October edition of http://Artscopemagazine.

I look forward to seeing you on the tour on October 11 and 12th!
