From the Studio: John Abisamra

My real passion is to capture the beauty of our world through my camera. A lot of my inspiration comes from photographing the magical coastal light of Cape Ann. I enjoy photographing the golden hours and am drawn to scenes where nature and man made objects meet. Photography for me is about capturing a moment in time that may never be repeated. I spend considerable time driving/ hiking on back roads and editing these images to replicate what I saw.

One of the highlights for me was having my photo “The Pink Hour” awarded first place in the Essex National Heritage Photo contest in the Great Outdoors category (above). After the sun had set, some incredible pink clouds covered the sky and reflected nicely on the water and the Burnham House in Essex.

Although I am primarily a landscape and wildlife photographer, I do enjoy photographing people. My photo “Play Time” was recently published in the summer issue of the Cape Ann magazine. Two teenage girls spontaneously acted out the “I’m Flying” scene from the Titanic movie.

I have spent considerable time this summer photographing loons, puffins, fox families, and lighthouses. I will be going to a photo workshop in the French/Swiss Alps this fall. My newly renovated home photography gallery has been given a fresh coat of paint and contains framed canvas, paper and metal photo enlargements.

I continue to be a juried member of the Rockport Art Association and Newburyport Art Association. My photography has recently been shown in One Dock Square Gallery in Rockport, Cape Ann Coffee and Oliver’s Restaurant in Gloucester and the Depot Diner in Beverly.
