I was brought up in the Boston area and often went fishing with my father in his small boat. This left me with a deep love of the sea. Later on I became an artist and was lucky enough to find myself living in a house by the ocean in Lanesville, a small community in Gloucester.
Granite is everywhere here: in the quarries, in the ubiquitous stone walls, and in our yards. I love the look and texture of these local stones and enjoy using them in my artwork. I have placed mosaic birds and animals on granite rocks, some small enough to put on a book shelf, and some large enough to adorn your garden. I’m also lucky enough to have found a local quarryman who has agreed to grind bowls in a large pieces of granite so that I can create birdbaths with mosaic design in the carved out area.
After taking a year off from the Artisan Tour I am now in my studio doing painting as well as mosaics. Most recently my subject matter has been local birds as well as local Lanesville street scenes.
It feels great to be back working!
