It has been a cold and snowy winter season here on Cape Ann, perfect weather for quilting! I have been working on executing some new designs into wall hangings and lap quilts that will be added to my collection.
This could be described as a checkerboard design. I’ve taken Kaffe Fassett squares and laid them out with stark black squares to make them pop. Additionally ‘fussy cut’ flowers by the same designer have been appliquéd in one corner for added detail and dimension. This piece measures 30.5 inches x 32.5 inches, great for bringing color into a room.
This is a quilt top that is on my workbench now. I’ve taken a modern log cabin variation and repeated the pattern in beautiful batik fabrics in shades of blue and yellow. These colors evoke a French country feeling, colorful and soothing. This one will measure approximately 55 inches x 56 inches upon completion.
