From the Studio, Winter 2022: Deb Schradieck

2021 ended on a high note for me. I produced a line of Cape Ann themed Christmas cards featuring watercolors of classic Rockport and Gloucester scenes, some whimsical and some more serious. They sold very well-in fact, several thousand were bought and sent all over the place, which triggered inquiries from those who received one and wanted to purchase a box for themselves. I will be making a new card every year for each town- this year I had Gloucester, Rockport, Magnolia and Manchester-by-the-Sea.

Both the spring and fall Artisans tours were well-attended. Original paintings sold well. There is now room on the gallery wall for the new work that’s in progress. And there is plenty of that!

I decided to start working on street scenes to begin 2022. So far I have completed four of them in watercolor. Check my Instagram account (@DebsArtGallery) for a preview. Just to mix it up a bit I also have three oil paintings in progress. Commissioned work continues to come in both for pen & ink home portraits and watercolors.

Recently I was featured on Cape Ann ArtWaves being interviewed by fellow Artisan Jackie Ganim-DeFalco. I talk about my background, my work, and technique. You can watch it on YouTube at this YouTube link.

2022 looks very promising. The pandemic is winding down. It seems we will finally be back to normal soon. I look forward to greeting unmasked faces in my studio on the June tour and resuming in-person everything. See you in June!
