From the Studio: Cindy Efinger – Interactive Art

Something new is brewing in Cindy’s Fine Art Studio.  Blocks and mix media!

BLOCKS!  Each piece of block begins as a carefully crafted stack of wooden blocks, hand-selected for their weight, balance and the way they invite the touch of curious hands.  The blocks are built to turn, to pivot and spin on their axis, transforming what might seem like a static sculpture into a living, breathing object.  No two moments with these pieces are quite the same, because the art itself is designed to change with you.

Every surface tells its own story.  Layers of collage paper, texture, and paint are applied with intention, fragments of imagery, color and pattern that reveal themselves one face at a time as the blocks rotate.  The process of collage honors the beauty of the unexpected: torn edges meeting painted strokes, vintage ephemera alongside bold graphic elements, each surface a world unto itself.  Together, the stacked blocks create a composition that is endlessly surprising, where turning one block shifts the entire visual conversation.

These are not pieces meant to be hung on a wall.  They are meant to be touched, turned and revisited – a different arrangement greeting you on a Monday morning than on a quiet Sunday afternoon.  The interactivity is the art.  The buyer becomes a collaborator, curating their own daily experience by choosing which faces to reveal and which to tuck away.  In a world of passive decoration, these block sculptures invite you to participate in the art you live with.
