Cape Ann Artisans Open Doors on Tax Free Weekend
Five Artists to participate in the One Day Mini-Tour
Starting in 2020, a small group of the Cape Ann Artisans decided to open their doors during the summer months for visitors and locals who are not here for the shoulder season full Open Studio events. This year’s summer “mini-Tour” will take place on Saturday, August 8th from 11AM-6PM.
An advantage of shopping this weekend is saving on Mass Sales Tax. During a sales tax holiday most retail items of up to $2,500, purchased in Massachusetts for personal use on these two days are exempt from sales tax.
Visitors can start in Gloucester or Rockport and visit with Nina Goodick and Jacqueline Ganim-DeFalco along the Annisquam River. Nina continues to build her collection of pottery reflecting her passion for family and community. Jacqueline Ganim-DeFalco shares her vast selection of sea glass wearable art and garden steppingstones. In East Gloucester, Cindy Efinger will greet you with her tantalizing mosaics and mixed media art.
Follow along to Rockport and visit with John Bassett in his barn studio featuring exquisite wall pieces of eco-friendly glass formed using a kiln, glass cutter and wet saw. Joining the group for the summer only is Cynthia Curtis, a long-time member of the group, and well-regarded pottery who continues to support the artisans in many ways. It’s worthwhile to reach out to other Artisans who may be open by appointment.
