From the Studio, September 2020: Cynthia Curtis

These are certainly strange times.  But even so, I am feeling very grateful.   Thanks to all of the folks that came out for our two Cape Ann Artisans “Mini Tours” in July and August.  It was a lot of fun!

And thanks to all of my students who have returned to classes, private lessons and open studio.  We are getting very positive feedback about the precautions we are taking here to keep everyone safe.  As different as it is in the studio with smaller classes, masks, and distancing, things are running smoothly. I am a huge believer in the therapeutic value of clay and its healing power.  Something we need now more than ever.

I have built up a large inventory of new work for the upcoming Studio Tour and holiday season.  Included is a new line of pottery that I call my “Wabi Sabi Collection”.  Wabi Sabi is the art of imperfection.  So all of the pots are intentionally lop sided, warped, twisted, and imperfect. Created during very imperfect times. It was really fun and freeing.

Looking forward to our Fall Cape Ann Artisans Fall Open Studio Tour – October 10-11, 10:00-5:00.  Additionally the gallery is open every day year round by appointment.  Hope to see you!
